Sheffield is famed for its industrial heritage and is home to the world’s first and oldest football club. Bramall Lane is home to Sheffield United FC. The ground holds 30,000 fans and was originally a cricket ground. Football was first played there in 1862 between reputedly the world’s two oldest clubs, Sheffield FC and Hallam FC. It was also the venue for the first-ever floodlit game in 1878.
