St.Gallen

St.Gallen – a city with a unique quality of life. With a population of 80’000, St.Gallen is the metropolis of eastern Switzerland and differs from other cities: short walking distances between destinations, a compact centre and a stunning natural environment in its vicinity, from the Säntis to Lake Constance. All in all, a city with an urban edge, yet still in the middle of the countryside. Since 1983 the St.Gallen Abbey District is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site – the district encompasses Switzerland’s oldest library, next to the picturesque Old town.

Arena St.Gallen boasts a unique feature – the Espenmoos, an artificial turf laid underneath the natural grass surface. This innovative approach enhances the pitch’s durability and allows for more frequent use. The stadium, with a capacity of around 20’000, not only hosts football matches for FC St. Gallen but also accommodates various cultural events, contributing to its multifaceted appeal.
